Emperors tomb

Now, I would like to show you a lit of bit of the Emperor’s Tomb in Shenyang. Zhao Ling can be divided into three parts:

1. In the first part of the park from the large monument at the entrance to the Red Gate we saw marble pillars, stone lions, bridges, stone arches, many sculptures of dragons, tigers, lions, horses, elephants, unicorns, camels, turtles and many other buildings. I took loads of pictures there but of course I am not able to place them all here:) Anyway it is worth to see the place.

2. Central part from the Red Gate to the door of tomb of Huang Taiji. The biggest attraction for me in here were old pine trees which gave the whole place distinctive look. To get to that part we had to pay extra 60 yuan each for tickets. Behind the Red Gate there was almost nobody (tourist season was over I guess) so we had the whole place for ourselves.

3. Zhao Mausoleum (North Tomb) – the tomb of Qing Taizong Huangtaiji and empress Boerjijite. The building combines styles of Manchu nationality and Han nationality. Behind the building there is the tomb – man-made hill. My husband wasn’t much happy that I was taking a lot of pictures there as this was the actual grave of the emperor and there are a lot of believes that when you visit such place you need to pay respects. If you come in with food to such place you need to leave it there as the emperor will not be happy and other things like that. Some Chinese wouldn’t go in to such places at all just not to make the emperor angry. Of course I was behaving like an ignorant tourist with camera but in my defense I was overwhelmed by the view.
